These are all unofficial wine regions because such as it is that people look at the sub-regional identities of the known regions, we can’t official label the wines be the regions that they come from. Hobart’s Wine Regions: The easiest wine regions to get to are the Coal River Valley & Derwent Valley wine regions. These are located just outside of the main capital city of Hobart, and are a little more than 20 minutes max to travel to. With multiple wineries and cellar doors in these regions, a plethora of local wines can be tasted from grape varieties like Riesling, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris for our whites and Pinot Noir, Malbec, Cabernet, Shiraz and more for our reds.
